From our Program Graduates
Several
graduates of Canaan International's recovery program have offered
amazing testimonies of how God has redeemed their lives, restored
their families, and given them hearts to help others in the
same way they have been helped. W e invite you to share their
lives and their joy by reading below.

I want to share with you my testimony of where God took me
from and all the things He has been doing in my life through
an intimate relationship I have with Him today.
I
come from a family with no Christian principles at all and
my parents committed adultery. The moral foundations were
so weak that even I was victimized with these dysfunctional
relationships. After falling in the drug addiction world,
my life lost the normal course and affected moral, financial
and psychologically all my loved ones; I have been in
several rehab programs that didn´t heal all the emotional
wounds that finally took me to chemical dependency.
This is when the Lord, through
my brother, brought me to Canaan in January 2006 where I
started the Regeneration Process with God. In this place I
was ministered and through different activities I was driven
to face those negatives attitudes that I had in my life.
Finally, I gave to God all those emotional wounds from my
past and received Forgiveness as the key to the Inner
Healing of my soul.
What have I received in the Program? I finished in January
07 thanks to the mercy of the pastors and leaders who gave
me enough love and patience to confront those negative
attitudes I had during the program.
I decided to stay in Canaan to follow a process of renewal
of my mind of all the guilt and mental contamination of my
past through the Servant Leadership Training. Now I can
leave behind all the conformism to the things of the world
and start the transforming process of my understanding by
giving to God all those obsessive thoughts of my past,
marked with the works of the flesh that hurt me so much.
Today I can understand that after being regenerated with a
new spirit, God´s purpose is that, through the disciplinary
work of the Holy Spirit, I can keep getting rid of
everything that is part of the old creation and feel the joy
and peace He have given me and that, as a son of God, I must
testify and obey faithfully to give by grace which by grace
I have received, and serve the Lord serving others.

I have been in a world of drugs, lies, fantasy and wrong
relationships with my family and friends. I was my own god until I
hit bottom ruining my life and my family. God brought me to Canaan
through using my father. My dad was very instrumental in restoring
my life. Here, I learned how to have an intimate relationship with
God, where I learned how to love Him, my neighbor and myself; all
these were missing in my life. I also learned how to give to Him my
insanity.
After I finished the first phase of my regeneration process, I felt
the calling to keep serving Him through the Servant Leadership
Training and keep forming in my life the character of Christ. I
was also moved to also to give by grace; which by grace I have
received in this place. I desire now simply to help with a grateful
heart those students that come needing to be comforted and
ministered to, teaching them how to be better people seeking the
presence of the Lord.

I started drugs because I felt abandoned. I remember clearly the
day I decided to try Marijuana, I was hanging out with my friends; I
was not even thinking straight. I knew I made a mistake because I
found out that I really liked marijuana, it made me feel good and
popular. It made me feel really bold with the women. The next
thing you know I started experimenting with other types of drugs
such as a cocaine base with marijuana, and synthetic drugs.
I was
absolutely enjoying myself in this lifestyle until the day my father
died. I began using more and lost control completely going deeper
in perversion. I made my mother suffer so much until the day when
she pleaded with me to ask for help. She asked me to look at a
mirror; I was very shocked when I saw myself… I was like a corpse.
It was
during this time that I finally called Canaan. Being here made me
feel different and
I
seem to be a new person now through the things I have learned and my
new found relationship with Jesus. I was baptized here in Canaan
because I wanted to seal this new lifestyle I have found. It is
also a way for me to start my new ministry to help others with the
same help I was given. Thank You Lord Jesus!
I give thanks to God today because He did a big miracle in my life,
giving me direction and a purpose. The Lord rescued me from a
dysfunctional life where my own family didn't know the real me. The
Lord has changed me, today I am a different person because I don't
only think about me anymore, but I also have other people in
consideration. In the camp, with my brothers' help and through my
relationship with God, I have become a completely different person;
today I can say I am a son. In the Servant Leadership Training, I
help my brothers, especially those in the Orientation phase; giving
back by grace the comfort and the formation God gave me through the
Program. Today I feel free and can say that I´m different because I
no longer live but my God in me.
